Vita Sofa

Designed by

Nanna and Jørgen Ditzel

1951

As early as 1949, Nanna and Jørgen Ditzel experimented with furniture in which the supporting and load-bearing parts of the construction were separated. The purpose of this was to make the furniture appear light and "floating". The Vita sofa is a good example of this. It appears visually light, open and almost sculptural — there's no back to pack away.
In collaboration with Nanna Ditzel Design, Getama has modified the sofa to fit the height of people today. Originally it was a three-seater, but today it is also available as a two-seater.
